Assistant General Counsel
Job Description
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant General Counsel in the Office of Vice President and General Counsel. The office consists of the Vice President and General Counsel, Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, four Associate General Counsel, two Assistant General Counsel, and a support staff of seven.
The legal staff provides advice and legal representation to
the University in all areas of law including academic and student affairs, intellectual property, corporate and business transactions, and employment and labor relations.

The Assistant General Counsel will work in a variety of areas, including intellectual property, student affairs, business transactions, compliance and litigation. He/she will conduct research, render advice, and work with outside counsel in a wide variety of matters typically under the supervision of one of the other lawyers. This position requires higher education experience or a commitment to working in this environment. Suitable candidates must have a law degree and either be admitted to practice law in New Jersey or be admitted in another jurisdiction and be willing and able to become admitted in New Jersey as soon as practical. Superior academic credentials, effective written and oral communications skills and an ability to work independently are required.
