Geoffrey T. Gibson

Associate General Counsel

Geoff Gibson is an attorney based out of the Newark office who provides advice and counsel to his clients in many diverse matters.  With a focus on Health Law, his responsibilities include responding to the various legal needs of the schools and units of Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences, specifically the New Jersey Medical School, the School of Dental Medicine, the School of Health Related Professions and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, with responsibility over various agreements that involve academic, clinical and research activities.   Geoff also advises clients on legal issues involving faculty and staff, student academic and disciplinary issues and issues surrounding the delivery of care such as issues involving informed consent and the applicability of privacy laws, such as HIPAA.  Geoff regularly counsels clients regarding issues involving State and Federal Regulatory Law, such as the Stark law, the Anti-Kickback law and the Codey law.   He is also assigned to assist the negotiation teams for new and continued agreements between faculty practices and payors, primarily managed care companies.

Prior to joining Rutgers, Geoff was a Director in the Office of Legal Management at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and an associate at both Lowenstein Sandler and Anderson Kill & Olick.  He received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.A. in English Literature from Villanova University.
