David Alberts

David Alberts works in the Office of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel’s Labor and Employment Group. There, he counsels University offices and employees on a broad range of labor and employment matters and represents the University in arbitrations, collective negotiations, and administrative proceedings.   

Prior to joining Rutgers, David was a partner at the law firm of McElroy Deutsch Mulvaney and Carpenter.  There, he represented public and private clients in a wide variety of matters, including federal and state discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower lawsuits; United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and New Jersey Division on Civil Rights proceedings; National Labor Relations Board and New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission matters; as well as cases before the New Jersey Department of Labor, New Jersey Office of Administrative Law, and New Jersey Department of Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health.  Prior to joining McElroy, David worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Clarkson S. Fisher in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.  

David earned his B.A. from the College of New Jersey and J.D. cum laude from Seton Hall University, where he served as a member of the Moot Court Board and Sports and Entertainment Law Journal.  David is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
